    Position Description

    This role is focused on the facilitation and leadership of Data Discovery activities in the business units of a Fortune 100 financial services firm. The Data Discovery activities involve several defined activities for identifying the appropriate business and technology stakeholders for the Business Data Element assigned in a given project or initiative by working with the sponsors of the project. Within the scoped project the Senior Business Data Consultant will leverage the Data Clairvoyance methodology and tools to identify, analyze and score stakeholders by the relationships they have with a given Business Data Element. In addition, this role will manage the process for reaching out to each stakeholder, communicating and validating the stakeholder interests and ultimately planning the Business Data Definition Workshops, which are workshops designed for the affiliated stakeholders to contribute views and perspectives on the definition, purpose, meaning and use of each given Business Data Element in the scope of the project. Training and education on our methodology and approaches will be provided as a part of the on boarding process. The Senior Business Data Consultant is the responsible party for facilitating and leading all aspects of the process described above. For each critical Business Data Element the process can range from between 10 and 30 stakeholders at any given point of the lifecycle and may involve senior executives, mid-level management and line level experts.

    Primary Objectives

    • Conducting Data Community Stakeholder Analyses
    • Facilitating Data Discovery Workshops
    • Management of resources to collate, consolidate and refine the outputs of Data Discovery Workshops
    • Management and communication of findings, observations and outcomes to both seniorleadership and core team members
    • Management of handoffs to technical partners (i.e. Metadata Management team and Data Quality team)

    Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Must have strong facilitation skills
    • Leadership and management of small core teams
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
    • Very strong visualization skills (must be able to create visualizations of abstract data conversations)
    • Experience with Visio, Sharepoint and MS Project
    • Experience with business glossaries, data standards and data quality is a plus
    • Commitment to a consulting lifestyle including extensive travel
    • Ability to lead meetings on your own
    • Prior consulting experience is a plus
    • We will work on a corp-to-corp, W2, 1099 or full-time employment basis

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • MBA or graduate degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting
    • Insurance or Financial Services experience is required
    • Finance, Accounting, Risk, Product or Operations experience is required
    • 5+ years experience in an analytical role is required
    • 3+ years experience in a management role
    • 5+ years experience working with large enterprises
